Chanel's Robertson Collection

Clockwise from top left: Melrose Mood, LA Sunrise, Rodeo Drive, LA Sunset
Is it totally tragic that I’m already over Blue Satin?
Well this promo pic of Chanel's Robertson Boulevard Nail Colour Collection doesn't help. My mouth is watering!
With the extra sunshine and clear blue skies, spring trends have given way to my anticipation for summertime looks and styles. I am totally ready to forgo spring’s dark blue manicured nails for the fresher, funner, orange hues of summer. So do I cop MonSooner Or Later, OPI's glossy new orange nail color from the India Collection, or should I be patient and wait for Chanel's Robertson Collection to drop so I can check up on LA Sunset? Or maybe I should just stop being extra and realize that I have a very serious problem probably due to all the nail polish fumes I inhale.
The good news is that these limited edition nail polishes will be available exclusively at the new Chanel store on Robertson Blvd, but the store doesn't open until May. As if I need any more excuses to visit the street that houses, Curve, Diavolina, and the best Gimlet’s on the most famous patio in LA. Don’t act. You know I’ll be there opening day, and after I check up on my goods I’ll be downing a victory Gimlet at the Ivy. See you on Robertson ladies and watch out for the paparazzi!

White Minis at Krystof Strozyna
How many times can you send the same white mini dress down a runway before it gets old?
Krystof Strozyna says 12.
And if you change the color to flamigo pink?
Repetitive much?
They are all beautifully tailored, but I feel like I’m getting a severe case of deja vu.

Coats at Aquascutum!

Coats are the #1 reason I love Fall and Winter. The opportunity to wear fabulous coats year round was a major deciding factor in my relocation from La La Land to San Francisco.
Graeme Fidler and Michael Herz, the boys helming the design team for Aquascutm, clearly know why women love fall. It's the coats! The design duo showcased a myriad of military inspired coats and jackets that were feminine and sweet. While it was nothing revolutionary, a fabulous coat is still a fabulous coat. As for the rest of their collection, the separates were blah and the brocade bordered on tacky, but they managed to finish on a solid note of cute yet simple dresses.
My favorites and more pictures after the jump.

London Calling
London Fashion Week has begun!
And while I’m not too familiar with all the great designers who will be showing this week across the pond, Christopher Kane is definitely a name that's been on everyone's lips.
The Showstoppers:

He's the Wonder Boy who first made his mark on the London fashion scene three seasons ago with a collection of bondage dresses that referenced both Alaïa and Hervé Léger. Now, for his fourth collection Kane has traded in overt sexuality for something more subtle. For Fall/Winter 2008 Kane continues to incorporate the trend of sheer fabrics by pairing wispy featherweight chiffon dresses with layers of sequins and leather.
My favorites and more images after the jump.
My favorite:
Dying to see these on the Red Carpet:

Would totally be gorgeous without that scary jacket thing:

Stella by Stella McCartney

Almost done with the bottle, but i'm thinking of switching it up and getting the Parfum.
I'm a sucker for packagaing, and it just looks so elegant... like my grandmother's perfume bottles. What do you guys think?

"Florals for Spring. Groundbreaking."

While I'm not too crazy about these Prada mules and slingblacks, it seems like someone over at Nine West sure is.

Foundations
She's cute, young, British and already pretty big across the pond. Right now her new single "Foundations", is getting major radio play on Indie 103. Kate Nash's "Foundations" is sweet and refreshingly honest. The relationship is going nowhere, the fighting is nonstop, but somehow you just can't seem to let go. It's like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in song form.
Her myspace has three more songs from her current album Made of Bricks. You can even download an acoustic version of "We Get On". I won't spoil it for you, but it's soft and sweet and a lot bit sad, because of course he ends up with the stupid tramp (and no it's not because she puts out and you don't).

Fafi ♥ MAC

Just got back from the unveiling of the MAC Fafi collection. Even though I was a little bit nonplused about the colors and finishes (not a big fan of frost) it was a really fun event.
What I scored:
Fashion Frenzy Powder Blush
Usually I wear MAC's Dame when I want a cute pink color on my cheeks, but lately I’ve been craving something with a bit more punch. This is the perfect bright pink for spring; it's fun, cheeky and has a satin finish so it blends well and doesn't end up looking obnoxious.
Verve-acious Iridescent Powder
A nice neutral colored all-over-shimmer that doesn't end up looking frosty or like you dumped a tube of glitter all over your face. Just the thing for those days when you're too lazy to make-up your whole face but want a nice glowy shimmer.
I went to the Paseo Colorado store in Pasadena and they were really well organized. When I got to the store, one of the girls at the door checked my reservation off on her clipboard and gave me a pen and a card that listed all the new Fafi products. All the MAC girls were decked out in Fafi T-shirts, black shorts, and black and white stripped knee highs. Everyone was super helpful and really sweet. None of the employees seemed too stressed about the huge crowd. I filled out my card as I went through the store and handed it over to one of the girls when I was done. While I waited for my name to be called up at the cash register Man Candy circulated through the store handing out mocktails and snacks (the mini cheese paninis with relish and mini burgers were super delish). The section of boyfriends and husbands commiserating in the corner seemed pretty thankful for the nourishment. As I left the store with my goodies I signed my name in bright blue on the giant MAC ♥ Fafi poster board outside the store. One of the girls was dressed up as a life-sized Fafi doll complete with white wig, painted on knee-highs, platform shoes, and low cut ruffle dress. Don't act, I totally took a pic with her!
Overall, fun times. Now if March 27th could just hurry up and come already I’d be a really happy girl.
But this post isn’t all about me. For my besties (you know who you are), this V-Day might be filled with a little extra Fafi love from yours truly.

Over "It"
So apparently the "It Bag" is dead.
I say, it’s about time.
Looking back at the last 5 years of "It Bags" I’m surprised it took so long. While some were foul to begin with, others were just overexposed.
We've gone through the Fendi Spy Bag, Chloe Paddington, Balenciaga Le Dix, and all of those vomit inducing horribly ticky-tacky Murakami and Louis Vuitton collaborations. Why no mention of the Yves Saint Laurent Muse? We'll get to that later.
Chloe Paddington, Fendi Spy Bag, Balenciaga Le Dix x 2
Yves Saint Laurent Muse
I personally revile the term It Bag, It Shoe, It Anything. I'm all about the personal style. So once these bags went from having a stylish cult following, to being mass marketed in tabloids by Lindsay Hohan and other tragically dressed celebs, I was over it. Actually that's a lie; I never liked the Chloe Paddington because it seemed dumpy and like something a 15 year old would own. And really, who actually likes anything monogrammed from Louis Vuitton?
The dreaded It Bag label gave everything a pretty short lifespan and guaranteed overexposure. Take for example the Fendi Spy Bag. It came out in the Fall/Winter 2005 Fendi collection and I'm not gonna lie, I totally wanted it. It's a cute bag. But after seeing it on everyone and their mom, i couldn't bring myself to buy it. It was just soooooo 2006. Honestly imagine wearing that thing now, you'd look like Kim Kardashian. (Don't act, everyone knows she buys last season Missoni on eBay.)
The Balenciaga Le Dix was the bag you bought if you had personal style and a designer bank account. Few could spend the $1500 and so it was the knock-offs that killed it. I remember my sister coming home from Santee Alley one day and showing me her bag. She liked it because it was cool and casual, but had interesting hardware and personality. I informed her that it was a Balenciaga knock-off. She was like, really? But it doesn't have any logos or anything?! That's why I loved the Motorcycle Bag (sigh). It didn't need the tacky logos and monograms. It was all about the design. Even so, buying one now (if you can even still find them) at full price, would be silly. Everyone knows someone who either had the real deal or a knockoff. Besides if you really liked the bag for it's design to begin with, there are tons of lesser known labels that will give you the same rush of finding the perfect everyday/everywhere bag.
NOT an It Bag
It's not an "It Bag", it's a classic and just like the Birkin and 2.55 will never go out of style. With a timeless shape and understated hardware it's definitely not the flashiest bag around, but that's exactly why it has staying power.

Chanel Induced Panic
Like any good Chanel addict/fanatic/crazy obsessed devotee, I've been drooling over Blue Satin since eyeing the Spring 2008 Beauty campaign. Chanel + Natalia Vodianova = I Want, I Need! But clearly, I’m not as up on my nail game as I should be. Die hard Chanel fans have been anxiously awaiting the releases of Blue Satin since Karl Lagerfeld used it all over the runway at the Spring/Summer 2008 show.
If you're thinking of copping a bottle now, good luck with that. Just like 2006's Black Satin, Blue Satin is sold out everywhere and waiting lists are in full effect. I didn't even realize it was available in stores until I did a random Google search for it last week. Already it was marked up on EBay for $30, $40, $50! Angry and pissed at myself for not learning my lesson from the Black Satin sitch of 2006, I desperately began calling every Nordstrom and Macy*s counter in Los Angeles county. SOLD OUT everywhere. As a last resort I finally tried the Chanel store in Bev Hills. They had 5 left. "Yes!" I screamed into the phone, shopping is after all a full contact sport, and that my dears was a touchdown. I ordered 2 bottles from the sweetest, kindest, most amazing sales associate ever (Vaughn) and picked them up later that week.
Blue Satin is a rich, almost black, matte blue that in direct light has a gorgeous royal-blue shimmer. I got a manicure with it last week and love love loooooooove the color! It's pretty flossy. Now I’m always staring at my nails and smiling. Don't act, you know you would too. Chanel is instant happy. More "Chanel Induced Panic"
